SUPPORT PERSON TRAINING

A support person provides support to a person in situations where, due to social, economic, psychological or health problems, he or she needs outside help in organizing his or her life. The content, tasks and organization of the assistant’s work differ depending on the target group and the need for assistance. The secondary care offered by the supporter consists mainly of empowerment and development of the individual’s greater independence and personal responsibility through guidance, encouragement and motivation. Depending on the person’s development. Guidance in doing business or establishing contacts, if necessary, a support person is an assistant in business, a provider of emotional support, a mediator of experiences or information.

Learning objectives Training provides the knowledge and skills to work as a support person. The purpose of the training is to prepare a support person who supports and strengthens the client’s independent self-sufficiency if the client needs a significant amount of additional assistance in fulfilling their obligations and exercising their rights due to social, economic, psychological or health problems.
Duration of study 5 months
Conditions for starting training ·    Of legal age and compliance with the provisions of paragraph 1 of section 25(2) of the Social Security Act and section 20 of the Child Protection Act .

Total training 260 academic hours distributed as follows:

160 classroom hours:

20 academic hours of independent work with educational literature

80 academic hours – practical application of acquired knowledge and skills

Content of training Module I Introduction. Fundamentals of the work of the support person, ethics. Services.

Module II Community, community work, collaboration and teamwork.

Module III The role of personality and experience in the work of the support person (values, beliefs, etc.). Self help, stress management.

Module I V Psychology of communication and principles of counseling in the work of a support person.

Module V Case analysis and management, action plan

Module V I Working with different target groups – mental disorders, violence, abuse, addictions, children

Conditions for graduation To receive a certificate, a student must attend at least 80% of class hours and pass the test (at least 70% correct answers). Completion of 100% of the classroom is a mandatory requirement for mandatory and safety-related training (first aid training).
Learning Outcomes · Can see and solve the problems of various target groups in the social sphere and help them in their daily activities.

Knows and can proceed in his work from the role, ethics, rights and obligations of the support person.

Can contact the right institution and find suitable services for the person in need.

Can select types of assistance appropriate to the age, development and needs of the person in need.

He knows the basic methods of counseling, he knows how to listen to a person in need and assess problems.

List of teaching materials The list of literature is given to students by teachers in the classroom.
Description of the learning environment For educational activities, from one to three rooms are used, for lectures, group work and practice in small groups; projectors, whiteboards, markers and creative tools. Internet is available in all rooms. Ability to connect participants remotely. If necessary, training is conducted in a web environment ( zoom, skype).
